Stunning Starz, but you already knew that. I don't see whats wrong with reference images, after all, anything you use is a reference don't you think? Whether its from your memory, your own photo, something you see in front of you or a photo you find somewhere else, its still your art work.

nothing is wrong with references as long as you inform you used them.
This was unwritten rule to link to the original piece, but lately many people didn't link, so it's as if you claimed copyrights to you, when they don't belong to you.

Ok I understand, but what if the photo is yours to begin with? That gives you full rights to the image no? I'll remember to link any references I use, but most of the time I change a reference so much it looks nothing like the original and often times I use multiple references in order to combine images or just get the look and feel of something from different angles so that I can draw it better from my head. Anyways thankyou

there's difference between copying and referencing.

If I want to draw a portrait of my mom, I took a photo and dre from it's only referencing, because of the coyrights I hold.
Same if you want only a picture for a pose, it;s not copyrighted in Polish law we are talking about. Same if you want to draw a hand in specific position from meg Ryan's photo taken form a tabloid.

BUT when you COPY an artwork/photo etc, you don;t hold any copyrights to it, only to hard copy you produce. In this case it was copied.
